Dry Climate? Don’t Let Your Home Burn like a Campfire
Warmer, drier climate conditions, lead to longer and more devastating fire seasons. Drought and persistent heat set the stage for extraordinary wildfire seasons from 2020 to 2022 across many of the western United States, with all three years far surpassing the average of 1.2 million acres burned since 2016¹. A global one (1) degree C temperature increase would increase the median burned area per year as much as 600 percent in some types of forests². The Wildland Urban Interface is the area where homes and other human development intermingle with undeveloped wildland or vegetative fuels.³
Prepare your home before the fire season by creating a Defensible Space in three (3) zones;
1. Ignition Zone - Within five (5) feet of your home
2. Intermediate Zone - Up to 30 feet of your home
3. Extended Zone - 100 feet away
